The hold bag is just a fancy term for the commonly used ‘checked baggage’. The ‘hold bag’ at EasyJet refers to the baggage you drop at the check-in office which is later transported to the cargo hold of the flight you are traveling with via EasyJet.

The hold baggage is the baggage that you will be receiving at the luggage carousel when you arrive at the destination airport.

What are the Rules and Restrictions on Hold Baggage at EasyJet?

Passengers, including toddlers and infants, are limited to one bag and can purchase as many as three (excluding sports equipment). 23 kg is the maximum weight for a typical carry bag. There are 3 kg increments available online, up to a maximum of 32 kg per bag, for those who require or want to transport a heavier item (up to 27 kg for a 15 kg hold bag). EasyJet charges a cost for each additional kilo if your hold luggage exceeds your pre-purchased quota when you arrive at the airport.

Your checked baggage allowance will be applied to all flights on your booking if you add it online (for example, for both outbound and return flights). Only at the airport will you be able to change your flight’s luggage allowance or add baggage to certain flights within a booking.

For safety and health concerns, easyJet limits the weight of each individual luggage to 32 kg; this is a regular feature of the airline. Using this example, a traveler with two pieces of hold baggage, each weighing 15 kilograms and the other 23 kilograms, is allowed to carry a combined weight of 38 kilograms, therefore he or she can carry one bag weighing 20 kilograms and another one weighing 18 kilograms.

Booking.com

It is possible to split the total weight of two passengers on the same flight reservation. If each passenger buys a 15 kg hold bag, the total allowed baggage is 30 kg. With one bag weighing 17 kg and the other weighing 13 kg, they could split the weight of their combined baggage allotment.

Carrying musical instruments as hold luggage is permitted. You’ll have to pay the usual baggage price for your extra bags. Extra weight up to 32 kg can be purchased online if the musical instrument weighs more than 15 or 23 kg. Adding weight to your luggage at the airport will cost you a lot more money if you don’t do this.

What is Cabin Baggage in EasyJet – Rules and Restrictions

You are allowed to bring one compact cabin bag with wheels and handles up to a maximum dimension of 45 x 36 x 20 cm, but there is no weight limit for this item.

A large cabin bag no larger than 56 x 45 x 25 cm is permitted for the cards of easyJet Plus and Flexi and Standard Plus fares, easyJet Extra Legroom or Upfront customers. At check-in, easyJet will assign you a seat if you haven’t chosen one. Your carry-on allowance remains at one small cabin bag if you have an auto-allocated Up front or Extra legroom seat.

Laptop case, handbag, briefcase/rucksack/wedding dress carrier are all included in your one cabin luggage allowance. Your cabin bag will be permitted to carry any of these items, so please be aware. It’s also permitted to bring shawls, coats, walking sticks or crutches and one standard-size bag containing duty-free goods into the cabin in addition to your cabin bag allowance.

The Hands Free service from Easyjet enables passengers to drop off a suitcase up to 56 x 45 x 25 cm for onboard storage. At the easyJet Plus Bag Drop, you can drop off your bag and remove a small item (maximum 45 x 36 x 20 cm) from your cabin bag to carry on board.

The bag will be labeled “priority” and placed at the front of the line when it arrives at its final destination. You have the option to leave early or at your convenience. Each bag costs £7, or you can get a “family bundle” for £16. (one cabin bag per person for up to six persons traveling on a single booking).

It’s a good idea to double-check the dimensions of your carry-on suitcase before leaving for the airport. The easyJet app has a Cabin Bag Sizer feature that you may access (iOS only). At the boarding gate, a gauge will measure the carry-on luggage to ensure it is the correct size. If your hand luggage exceeds the maximum dimensions, it will be placed in the aircraft hold and you will be charged a Gate Bag Fee.

An additional small cabin bag costs £24 and a bigger one costs £48. (up to 56 x 45 x 25 cm).

It costs £48 if your suitcase is larger than a large cabin bag (over 56 x 4 5x 25 cm).

How to Check Your Cabin Bag Size?

Before you board, EasyJet measures the size of your cabin luggage. It will not be possible to take a cabin bag that exceeds the maximum size allowed or that has not been pre-booked for your flight with a large cabin bag to the departure gate.

EasyJet will have to pay to store it in the hold of the aircraft. Make sure you check your cabin bag allowance before boarding the plane to prevent unexpected fees.

It is possible to utilize their app to determine whether or not your cabin bag is compatible with our maximum allowed dimensions (iOS only). To access the bag sizing tool, open the app and select your itinerary from the drop-down menu.

You can then take a picture of your bag with your cell phone and use it to measure it. If it fits inside the maximum cabin bag dimensions for the bag type you’ve chosen, you’re fine to go. Never fear if it does not fit! Through their app or in Manage Bookings, you may always alter your seat or hold your luggage.

‘Sports Equipment’ When Flying With EasyJet – Rules and Regulations

It includes skis and snowboards, as well as golf bags and diving equipment. The weight limit for small sports gear is 20 kg; the fees are as follows:

A maximum weight of 32 kg is allowed for large sporting equipment such as hang gliders, bicycles, surfing boards and windsurf boards, kayaks and canoes, and taxes are as follows:

  • The cost of the baggage, if purchased online, is £45.

Only one piece of sports equipment may be carried by each passenger. Even if more than six people are on the reservation, there is a maximum of six large sports equipment products that can be added to the online reservation. When making a reservation online, keep in mind that you will not be able to add additional weight for your sports equipment. What Should You Know Before Flying With EasyJet?

Here are a few things you should know when booking with EasyJet:

1.   Baggage Policies and Fees

A quick lesson in British English: The EasyJet website distinguishes between “cabin” and “hold” luggage, which refers to your carry-on and checked bags, respectively. Everyone is allowed to bring one compact cabin bag (also known as a personal item) that must fit under the seat in front of them and is no larger than 45 x 36 x 20 centimeters (roughly 17 x 14 x 7 inches).

If you book an Up Front or Extra Legroom seat, you are allowed to bring a large cabin bag (carry-on) that must fit in the overhead bin and is 56 x 45 x 25 centimeters or less (roughly 22 x 17 x 9 inches). Passengers using an EasyJet Plus card or a Flexi ticket can also bring a personal item and a carry-on bag.

The prices for hold (or checked) bags range from $10 to $70, depending on the weight and whether you pay them in advance or at the airport. Checked luggage cannot exceed 32 kilos (approximately 70 pounds) in weight or 275 centimeters in length (about 108 inches, length plus width plus height). Before booking, thoroughly review the baggage rules on the airline’s website to get an idea of how much your luggage will cost.

2.   Flight Change and Cancellation Policies

EasyJet’s flight change and cancellation procedures are a little complex, but it’s usually cheaper to make any changes online. You will receive a full refund (less the cancellation fee) if you cancel your flight within 24 hours of booking, but you will not receive a refund if you cancel after that.

Canceling, changing the name on a ticket, or transferring to an earlier return flight on the same day costs $65 if done online and $75 if done over the phone.

There is no charge to change your flights if you do it online until December 31, 2021, but there is a $8 fee if you do it through the customer care team (you will have to pay the fare difference if your new ticket is more expensive). In the event of a travel ban or necessary quarantine, there are additional policies in force; visit the EasyJet website for more information.

3.   Seats and Legroom

Standard, Up Front (in the front of the plane), and Extra Legroom are the three types of seats available. A standard seat’s minimum seat pitch is 29 inches, and its minimum breadth is 17 inches, however specifications vary by aircraft.

4.   Boarding Order

Those who have requested special help in advance board first, followed by Speedy Boarding passengers, Hands Free customers, families with children under the age of five, and then the rest of the passengers. Speedy Boarding received mixed reviews on Tripadvisor; some passengers thought it was a wonderful benefit, while others said it was inefficient and confusing.

5.   Fare Classes

Standard and Flexi fares are available from EasyJet. There is a tiny cabin bag (also known as a personal item) included in the usual fare, which can fit under the seat in front of you. You may also add on extras like free route adjustments, a £7.50 restaurant voucher to use on the plane, and free hold luggage (up to 23 kilograms) when you purchase a Flexi fare.

A carry-on bag (in addition to a personal item) can be brought on board with the purchase of Extra Legroom seats, and there is also the option of a dedicated bag drop. Dropping off large carry-ons at the bag drop and retrieving them at baggage claim are both options available to passengers who purchase the Hands Free add-on.
